The RTC is a cadre of accomplished course designers and facilitators who have joined together to address ongoing law enforcement and fire training shortfalls.
The RTC is driven by an ideological purpose to make public safety agencies the absolute best in the world at a cost that is true to taxpayers. Because we are non-profit and mission-centered, we apply intelligent innovation and flexibility to bring consultation and course presentations to students that are affordable.
The RTC, in conjunction with the Texas Police Association, is excited to offer TCOLE credit for Summit Attendees who complete at least three (3) Training Sessions. Please register online and report to the exercise site at the designated time to sign in and receive credit.

Competition & Awards
This exercise is a series of public safety mission skill elements intended to refine piloting inputs and aircraft control. The exercises are designed for newer pilots, but expert pilots will value the flight time for better managing inputs and reduce “slapping the sticks.”
(Limited to 10 pilots)
Learn the tricks of complex confined space searches and for tactical team linear assaults via inspections and bus clearing. Fly effectively in the “bad air” created in these environments and identify which UAV works best for you
(Limited to 10 pilots)
Drones are used worldwide to deliver packages, and public safety is not excluded from this mission-set. Police, Fire, and EMS are delivering medical gear, operational supplies, ammunition, floatation devices, thermal blankets and so much more. An important, but lesser-known, public safety mission-set is recovering objects remotely using a UAV. Mastering UAV remote recovery is a skill that could keep personnel from harm’s way and expedite operational goals when additional resources are unavailable or otherwise impossible.
In this exercise, participants will practice precision delivery of payloads and remote collection of items using the drone.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
A common law enforcement mission to ensure officer safety using time, distance, and tactics. This workshop provides pilots with the knowledge and skills to support high-risk patrol functions and vehicle barricades with advanced tactical teams.
Fire and EMS personnel will benefit from this workshop for Hazmat response, location of victims, and conducting remote patient assessments.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
With its small size, durability, reduced latency, and flowing flight style, the DJI Avata brings new clearing tactics to the DJI suite of aircraft. Attendees will clear interior spaces using the Avata and learn how the unique capabilities of this aircraft can be maximized.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
The Brinc Lemur is one of the few purpose-built tactical drones designed to operate in GPS denied environments and comes with significant unique capabilities. While this aircraft flies well right out of the box, it is a departure from the broadly used commercial drones. This workshop will focus on understanding how the Lemur works, and how to fly it safely and effectively with minimal classroom time.
(Limited to 8 pilots)
The Sky-Hero MK2 is one of the few purpose-built tactical drones designed to operate in GPS denied environments and comes with significant unique capabilities. While this aircraft flies well right out of the box especially with its “hover” feature, it is a departure from the broadly used commercial drones. This workshop will focus on understanding how the LOKI works, and how to fly it safely and effectively with minimal classroom time.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
This workshop is designed for existing Lemur pilots and/or advanced UAV pilots who are comfortable flying aircraft without GPS stabilization. Because of the unique flight procedures and analog video, building clearing tactics are different than the commercial drones that have been adapted to use for interior operations. Attendees will leave with the knowledge to maximize the aircraft’s abilities and the skills to provide direct support to tactical teams, pilot through tight spaces, and clear building quickly and safely.

(Limited to 10 pilots)
To be eligible for this workshop, attendees must have trained in a previous LOKI 2 workshop. Using specially created “IR NIST” bucket stickers, pilots will fly the NIST Confined lanes in complete darkness using only the infrared camera and emitters on the Sky-Hero LOKI 2. Flying in this never-before-done exercise will greatly enhance your operational capabilities and expertise.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
While use of thermal imaging on public safety missions is common, very few have mastered reading the subtleties revealed in the various imaging pallets. Just like an expert doctor who reads an MRI, so too an expert public safety pilot reads complex images to analyze and interpret them. Learn key tricks to maximize your effectiveness in these exercises.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
Designed for those seeking to become true professional pilots that are not dependent upon GPS or other sensor-stabilizing functions. Attendees will refine control inputs to operate any UAV more smoothly and more in control. These skills greatly reduce crashes, improve uninterrupted views on targets, and improve the quality of video data collected.
(Limited to 6 pilots)
Work with expert photographer and scene mapper Aaron Beckman, who brings his extensive experience to share with everyone. Join us at the accident scene mockup outside the RTC classroom and discover the delicate nuances of scene lighting to maximize your data collection. Attendees will set up lights of varying quality and see firsthand how light quality, intensity, and positioning significantly impact the quality of your data and subsequent maps. Several mapping evolutions will be flown after the scene is correctly illuminated.
(Limited to 50 students)
We’ve taken the NIST Obstructed Lane and added a twist. Each bucket contains a thermal sticker allowing pilots to perform the exercise using their thermal payload. This unique flight exercise will refine operational skills and challenge pilots to increase their situational awareness.
(Limited to 10 pilots)
The competition workshop consists of an interior building clearing scenario. Each pilot must fly into the search house and locate 3 items then return to the launch point without crashing. The pilots with fastest times will receive awards and will have their names written on a propeller and placed on the “Top Gun” wall in the RTC classroom.
