The Basic sUAS Pilots Course is a 32 -hour program of instruction designed specifically for agencies that already have an established UAS program with protocols and a comprehensive policy in place.  The course instruction is focused on piloting skills coupled with training in operational safety and system maintenance.

Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (sUAV) are powerful tools for first responders.  However, the Federal Aviation Administration limits sUAS use to daylight hours unless certain conditions are met.  In order to be operational 24-hours a day, organizations must acquire a waiver to operate during the hours of darkness.  At a minimum, remote pilots must know the requirements to operate at night; including aircraft equipment.

The UAS Basic Pilots Course is a 32 -hour program of instruction (8 hours online, 24 hours in class) designed specifically and ONLY for agencies that already have an established UAS program and are flying missions with protocols and a comprehensive policy in place.

This course will focus on the necessary skills required by a UAS Visual Observer (VO) in support of either Part 107 pilot operations or operating under a Certificate of Authorization (COA).
