Course Summary

This course was created to equip first-line incident commanders with the specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to swiftly, effectively, and ethically respond to critical incidents and other significant events. The course achieves measurable student outcomes utilizing blended learning, classroom facilitation, nine immersive reality-based field scenarios, and six rapid-fire ICS scenarios.   Instructors are active and retired law enforcement professionals representing all levels of law enforcement rank structure, from supervision to executive. This wealth of experience is brought to the course so students can interact with and understand the perspective of veteran supervision, management, and executives.

Because decisions made in the early stages of a critical incident will establish the pace and effectiveness of the resolution, students train in real-time scenarios to ingrain concepts covered throughout the course. The RTC strives to make training scenarios and practical exercises as immersive an experience as can be facilitated in a training environment, yielding stress-inoculated students with reinforced confidence and decision-making skills.
