Course Summary

The UAS Recurrent Pilot Training course was designed to maintain competency and currency for pilots operating under a COA and/or Part 107 in established programs.  Attendees learn new and pending FAA regulations, law changes, and relevant case law. Flight training is conducted on agency-specific UAV platforms, and students learn how to maximize their flight management software and UAV software settings.  Students will complete the objective National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Aerial Test, level 3 Open and level 4 Obstructed course.

Students will:

  • Participate in eight hours of flight training, including two hours of personally logged flight time
  • Demonstrate flight skills under stress in public safety mission sets
  • Explain new and pending regulations and laws affecting public safety UAS programs
  • Complete the RTC Certified NIST level 3 and 4 test
  • Explain and demonstrate flight management software and UAV setting management to maximize capabilities

Course Information

Course Length: 2 days (16 hours)
Max Class Size: 20 Students
Equipment:  Students should bring their assigned UAV / RTC Supplemented

Recommended Prerequisite: RTC UAS Operators Course, or Basic Pilots Course, or equivalent training
Student Requirements: Part 107 license or flying under a COA
Technical Level:
Beginner to Advanced UAS Operators

Recommended For:  UAS Operators in public service and private security industries.
