Designed For All Public Safety Operational Support
The class consists of five days of intensive scenario-based, hands-on, precision flight training designed to increase piloting skills and to provide students with the ability to operate in all UAS environments. Students fly inside and outside on multiple aircraft types, using infrared, thermal, and self-illumination views. Because nighttime operations add complexity that requires specific training and equipment, students will learn night visual illusions and the physiological degradation that occurs in darkness, then develop mitigating strategies. Attendees will be exposed to the equipment, tools, techniques, and tactics necessary to make their UAS program fulfill the desired mission sets.
Students will:
- Demonstrate the skills needed to fly BVLOS or FPV (first-person view)
- Understand and apply techniques for interior operations
- Operate as direct support for day and night public safety operations
- Operate Interior, Exterior, and Utility platforms
- Demonstrate precision UAV operation for confined spaces
- Use thermal, Infrared, and white light-equipped UAVs for nighttime operations
- Understand the human physiological effects during night operations
- Identify visual illusions associated with night flying
- Develop techniques to mitigate the risks of night operations
- Examine equipment requirements for operating during hours of darkness
- Create risk mitigation strategies for night operations
