The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program Operators Course is a 48-hour program of instruction designed to provide organizations with the knowledge and skills necessary to create and implement an aviation program based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms. The class follows this progression of student performances:

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and the 3D Mapping software applications are emerging as extremely accurate and efficient tools for crime and accident scene documentation and enhanced investigations.  It is remarkable to consider that if it can be seen with the naked eye, or with magnification, with thermal imagery, or with infrared, it can be almost perfectly preserved forever.  This new technology is changing how we can best serve the public.

Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (sUAV) are powerful tools for first responders.  However, the Federal Aviation Administration limits sUAS use to daylight hours unless certain conditions are met.  In order to be operational 24-hours a day, organizations must acquire a waiver to operate during the hours of darkness.  At a minimum, remote pilots must know the requirements to operate at night; including aircraft equipment.
